Therapies offered
I am a Psychodynamic Counsellor which means that I am interested in what is unconscious and affecting someone's daily life, perhaps making them unhappy, sad, angry, confused or not feeling able to fulfil their lives. Our past experiences have an influence and can impact the present and how we feel.
This means I work in a non directive way, being led by the client. With children and young people it is important to enable them to feel there is a safe space in counselling and psychotherapy where their feelings and thoughts can be expressed and thought about.
Working psychodynamically means using play with younger children as that is how they will communicate and a mixture of talking and creative materials with adolescents if they feel that is what will help them to feel understood.
What is very important is to be working at the pace that is right for the client, this means being sensitive to their needs and vulnerabilities.
